Composed by intuition, my photos capture the way I “see” the world around me. Through the viewfinder I see special relationships between siblings or between a parent and child. I capture an intimate moment between lovers, a feeling that is frozen in time. My photos are a connection to the real – at that moment in history. I enjoy the quiet moments with my subjects where I can take an artistic photograph that is unexpected and cherished forever. I feel very passionate about the art of portraiture and love capturing not just portraits but personalities.  Not only do I enjoy engaging with people, I also enjoy fine art photography where I explore the visual stimulation of rich colors and textures in urban settings. My recent projects focus on death and rebirth of a city, urban alleyways, and a documentary on living with cancer in which I explore the everyday life of a dying family member.

A native of Arizona, I come from long line of photographers and have been surrounded by photography my whole life. I spent many years in Los Angeles and then Houston where I started my freelance photography business. Originally, I used black and white print film and most of my subjects were newborn babies and pregnant women. While in Houston, I was exposed to the inner workings of a small art gallery in the museum district. These experiences had a large impact on my view of art and photography and photography as art. I received my father’s hand-me-down digital camera – a Fuji Finepix S3 Pro 12.9 mega pixels and although I didn’t understand the huge (now archaic) camera, I fell in love with the vivid colors and ease of modern digital photography. I was able to capture both vibrant colors as well as artistic black and white photos that my mother taught me to cherish. Shortly after, my husband and I moved to Oklahoma, where I opened a photography studio with some other talented women. We recently moved the family back to Houston for a wonderful job opportunity. We are excited to be back and I am loving my opportunities that I have found here in the Memorial City Area to practice creative photography, offer artistic portrait photography services and create beautiful wall portraits that are the best kind of artwork – your family!
